How to check British Standard lock kite mark?

When looking for a British Standard lock, the quickest check is the kitemark — the BSI heart-shaped logo — stamped on the lock.

Where to look

  • Mortice locks: on the faceplate on the edge of the door, usually with “BS3621”.
  • Night latches: on the edge of the latch body or the staple.
  • Euro cylinders: on the cylinder face, often with “TS007” and star ratings.

If there’s no kitemark, the lock is unlikely to meet insurance requirements. We can check and upgrade it for you.
