Do I need BS3621 locks for insurance UK?

In most cases, yes. The majority of UK home and contents insurance policies require BS3621 locks — or an approved equivalent — on external doors, especially final exit and ground-floor doors.

What happens if I don’t have them?

If you’re burgled and your locks don’t meet your policy’s requirements, your insurer may reduce or refuse your claim. Always check the security section of your policy.

Multipoint doors don’t use a BS3621 mortice lock, so insurers usually accept a multipoint lock operated by a TS007 3-star or SS312 Diamond cylinder.
