Best British standard lock for front door UK?

As a locksmith in East London, the best British Standard lock for a UK front door is, in our opinion, either a 5-lever mortice deadlock to BS3621 — mainly used on timber doors — or, if you have a uPVC or composite door, a 3-star rated euro cylinder (TS007 or SS312 Diamond).

Timber front doors

Fit a BS3621 5-lever mortice deadlock, ideally alongside a British Standard night latch. Look for the kitemark and “BS3621” stamped on the faceplate.

uPVC and composite doors

The multipoint mechanism is only as strong as the cylinder that operates it. Upgrade to an anti-snap, anti-bump, anti-drill cylinder rated 3-star, or a 1-star cylinder used with 2-star security handles.
